Militant killed, policeman wounded in ongoing Tral gunfight

A police source said that a militant was killed in the ongoing gunfight in Darganaie Gund village of Tral. However, there was no immediate official confirmation. A militant was killed and a policeman wounded in an ongoing gunfight in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday.

A top police official said that a policeman suffered a splinter injury during the gunfight which broke out after a joint search was launched in the village by Jammu & Kashmir police, army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 180 BN Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

He said the searches were launched following “specific” inputs about the presence of militants in the area. Meanwhile, authorities have suspended the Internet service in police district Awantipora which includes Tral, Awantipora and Pampore areas.
