Shopian Encounter: Two militants killed, Operation On

Shopian, May 03 : Two militants have been killed in an encounter that rages between government forces and militants in Imam sahib area of Shopian on Friday early morning.

An official told PNN that two militants were killed in an encounter that raged in Adkhara area of Imam sahib in Shopian.

He added that a joint team of Army’s 34 RR and SoG Shopian launched cordon and search operation in Adkhara Imam sahib area following credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

The official said that soon after the joint team of forces intensified the search towards the suspected spot, militants opened fire which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In exchange of fire, two militants were killed, whose identification is being ascertained, he said.
However sources identified the militants as locals belonging to Hizb.

Meanwhile in wake of the gunfight, internet services have been snapped in most parts of southern kashmir.
