Kupwara : A complete shutdown is being observed in parts of Kupwara on Sunday on the 34th death anniversary of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.

Maqbool Bhat, a resident of Trehgam village in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, was hanged and buried by government of India on February 11, 1984,  in Tihar jail of New Delhi. All business establishments are closed  while public transport is also off the roads in Kupwara parts in view of 34th death anniversary of Mohammad Maqbool Bhat.

Meanwhile Pro_Freedom activists from different factions of Hurriyat today morning visited the native village of Maqbool Bhat and pay glowing tributes. The shutdown call was given by all separatist groups including Hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Yaseen Malik on February 11.

However government forces have sealed entry and exits points at native village (Trehgam) of Maqbool Bhat in order to prevent any untoward incident.
