72nd Independence day celebrated at Kupwara

72 nd independence was celebrated in district Kupwara with enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shri Khalid Jahangir-KAS accompanied by Shri Shriram ambarkar-IPS, SSP Kupwara, unfurled the National Flag, inspected the parade and took salute on the March Past presented by the contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, Home guard, NCC cadets and school children from various schools of the district at DPL, Kupwara.
Addressing the gathering, DC Kupwara congratulated the people on the eve of Independence Day and recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle of the country. Various developmental initiatives taken by the government and to be taken were also highlighted. The march past was followed by a colourful cultural program presented by students of various schools, cultural club kupwara and police band.
The event was witnessed by huge public gathering. MLA Kupwara Shri Bashir Ahmad Dar, senior Army, Police, Paramilitary and Civil Officers also witnessed the independence day parade. Prizes were also distributed among the participating contingents of march past and cultural activities.
